Grayndler is located in the metropolitan inner west of Sydney.

Australia's smallest electorate at just 32 sq.km, Grayndler covers most of Sydney's newly formed Inner West Council. It includes the suburbs of Balmain, Birchgrove, Rozelle, Leichhardt, Lilyfield, Rozelle, Petersham Stanmore, Enmore, Haberfield, Summer Hill and parts of Newtown, Ashfield, Dulwich Hill and Marrickville.

First Proclaimed: 1949

Area: 32 sq km (approx.)

Electors enrolled: approx. 102,000 (2016)

Industries: Manufacturing, engineering works, retail and service industries

Who is Edward Grayndler?

This electorate was named after Edward Grayndler (1867-1943), a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council (1921-1934 and 1936-1943). He was also General Secretary of the Australian Workers’ Union from 1912 to 1941. Grayndler was a foundation member of the Amalgamated Shearers' Union of Australasia in 1886 and in 1895 was appointed shearer's union organiser for the Australian Workers' Union. He was an industrial advocate and was a member of the Bruce-Page government's Industrial Delegation to the United States of America in 1927.
